Compliance & Ethics
Legal integrity and ethical conduct are the foundation of everything we do.
Our Commitment to Compliance
Credit Services of Michigan is committed to the highest standards of legal and ethical conduct in every aspect of our operations. In an industry where shortcuts and aggressive tactics are too common, we hold ourselves to a higher standard — because our nearly 100-year reputation depends on it.
Compliance is not a checkbox for us. It is foundational to how we serve our clients, treat debtors, and operate as a trusted member of the Michigan business community.
Regulatory Framework
FDCPA
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act sets federal standards for how and when collectors may contact debtors, what they may say, and what rights consumers have. We follow every provision.
Michigan Collection Practices Act
Michigan adds state-specific consumer protections that go beyond federal requirements. Our team is trained on both federal and state obligations.
TCPA
The Telephone Consumer Protection Act governs how and when we may contact debtors by phone, text, or automated systems. We maintain strict calling compliance.
FCRA
Where credit reporting is applicable, the Fair Credit Reporting Act requires accuracy and gives consumers the right to dispute information. We adhere to all reporting standards.
Our Ethical Commitments
- We do not purchase debt — we work exclusively on behalf of our clients
- All debtor communication is professional, truthful, and respectful
- We honor validation requests and dispute procedures as required by law
- Staff receive ongoing compliance training and education
- We maintain detailed records of all collection activity
